AN ACT CONCERNING INVESTIGATIONS OF INTIMATE PARTNER
VIOLENCE BY INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 10a-55m of the general statutes be amended to require 1
each institution of higher education conducting an intimate partner 2
violence investigation or administrative hearing where the accused is a 3
student or employee of such institution, but the victim is not, to (1) 4
provide notice of and opportunity for such victim to participate in such 5
investigation or hearing, (2) clarify for such victim the roles and 6
responsibilities of each party involved in such investigation or hearing, 7
and (3) disclose to such victim any information discovered during the 8
course of such investigation or hearing. 9
Statement of Purpose:
To require an institution of higher education to allow victims of intimate
partner violence to participate in any investigation or administrative
hearing conducted by such institution in cases where the accused is a
student or employee of such institution, but the victim is not.
