AN ACT CONCERNING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR
INSULIN.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to prohibit any 1
health carrier from (1) categorizing any insulin drug as a preferred or 2
required drug for covered persons diagnosed with insulin-dependent 3
diabetes or insulin-using diabetes, and (2) requiring review, appeal or 4
approval of any such insulin drug prior to a medical provider 5
prescribing such insulin drug to such covered person. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To prohibit any health carrier from (1) categorizing any insulin drug as
a preferred or required drug for covered persons diagnosed with
insulin-dependent diabetes or insulin-using diabetes, and (2) requiring
review, appeal or approval of any such insulin drug prior to a medical
provider prescribing such insulin drug to such covered person.
