AN ACT REQUIRING THE NOTIFICATION OF A PARENT OR GUARDIAN OF A MINOR PRIOR TO THE PROVISION OF MEDICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES TO THE MINOR. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require that, prior to the 1 provision of any medical or mental health service to a minor, the health 2 care provider or mental health care provider notify the parent or 3 guardian of such minor and, in the case of the termination of a 4 pregnancy by a minor, such minor may seek and receive court approval 5 to terminate the pregnancy in a proceeding that ensures the minor's 6 anonymity and is conducted with sufficient expedition to allow such 7 minor to terminate the pregnancy. 8 Statement of Purpose: To ensure that the best interests of a minor are protected when requiring medical or mental health treatment.
