AN ACT REQUIRING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR
MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH TELEHEALTH.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to provide that individual and 1
group health insurance policies shall provide coverage for mental health 2
services provided through telehealth, provided (1) the covered person 3
is a resident of this state and out of state temporarily due to attendance 4
at an institution of higher learning, and (2) the treating physician is 5
appropriately licensed, certified or registered in this state and 6
authorized to provide mental health services through telehealth to the 7
covered person. 8
Statement of Purpose:
To require health insurance coverage for mental health services
provided through telehealth to out-of-state students who reside in this
state.
