AN ACT CONCERNING GRANDPARENT VISITATION WITH A MINOR
CHILD.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 46b-59 of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1
a grandparent may petition the Superior Court for the right of visitation 2
with a minor child when (1) the child's parents or guardians are 3
unreasonably depriving the grandparent of the opportunity to visit with 4
the minor child, and (2) there are compelling circumstances to overcome 5
the presumption that the decision by the parents or guardians to deny 6
the grandparent visitation is in the best interest of the minor child. 7
Statement of Purpose:
To revise court processes relating to the ability of a grandparent to
petition for visitation with a grandchild.
