AN ACT CONCERNING THE INCLUSION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION CONSIDERATIONS AS PART OF SCHOOL SAFETY AND SECURITY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 10-222m of the general statutes be amended to require 1 that a special education department representative be included as a 2 member on the school security and safety committee; and further that 3 section 10-231 of the general statutes be amended to provide that each 4 school, in the design and execution of fire drills and crisis response 5 drills, accommodate the special needs of their students in order for them 6 to fully, effectively and safely participate in such drills and that such 7 plans and notice of their participation be shared with their parents or 8 guardians. 9 Statement of Purpose: To include a special education department member on the school security and safety committee and to require the accommodation of special needs in the design and implementation of crisis response drills and fire drills.
