1818 AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH TO
1919 CREATE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES TO RAISE
2020 AWARENESS ABOUT THE DISPARITIES IN BIRTH OUTCOMES FOR

2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That the general statutes be amended to require the Department of 1
2626 Public Health to create educational programs and initiatives to raise 2
2727 awareness about the disparities in birth outcomes for black women, 3
2828 including, but not limited to, targeted interventions and 4
2929 recommendations for legislative changes necessary to address the 5
3030 systemic factors contributing to such disparities. 6
3131 Statement of Purpose:
3232 To improve maternal health outcomes for black women by requiring the
3333 establishment of educational programs and initiatives to address the
3434 underlying causes of birth outcome disparities in the black community.
