AN ACT EXTENDING THE TEMPORARY FAMILY ASSISTANCE TIME 
LIMITS AND INCREASING BENEFITS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 17b-112 of the general statutes be amended to (1) extend 1 
the time limit for temporary family assistance to sixty months in 2 
accordance with federal law, and (2) increase benefits to one hundred 3 
per cent of the federal poverty level with annual increases indexed to 4 
inflation to mitigate the prospects of homelessness and provide financial 5 
relief for families facing obstacles to employment. 6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To reduce the prospects of homelessness for families whose temporary 
family assistance benefits expire and provide financial relief for families 
suffering unforeseen circumstances that impede the ability to obtain 
gainful employment.
