1818 AN ACT CONCERNING HUMAN RIGHTS REFEREES EMPLOYED BY
1919 THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That chapter 814c of the general statutes be amended to: (1) Require 1
2424 a human rights referee to be an attorney admitted to practice law in 2
2525 Connecticut for not less than ten years; (2) allow the presiding referee to 3
2626 determine, in consultation with the parties, the place of any hearing, 4
2727 hearing conference, status conference or settlement conference; (3) 5
2828 require the Office of the Attorney General to represent the presiding 6
2929 officer in any appeal of a final order by the Commission on Human 7
3030 Rights and Opportunities; and (4) replace references to "human right 8
3131 referee" with "human rights magistrate". 9
3232 Statement of Purpose:
3333 To revise the employment qualifications and duties of human rights
3434 referees employed by the Commission on Human Rights and
3535 Opportunities.
