AN ACT DEDICATING A PORTION OF THE REVENUE GENERATED 
FROM SALES AND USE TAXES IMPOSED ON MEALS SOLD BY AN 
EATING ESTABLISHMENT, CATERER OR GROCERY STORE TO 
CERTAIN PURPOSES. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That chapter 219 of the general statutes be amended to require a 1 
percentage of the revenue generated from the additional one per cent 2 
sales and use taxes imposed on meals sold by an eating establishment, 3 
caterer or grocery store be dedicated to the following purposes: (1) One-4 
half per cent to be distributed to the municipalities in which the revenue 5 
was generated and used for infrastructure and to develop public safety 6 
initiatives; (2) one-quarter per cent to be used to promote tourism in the 7 
state; and (3) one-quarter per cent to be used to fund workforce 8 
development initiatives. 9 
Statement of Purpose:   
To require a percentage of the revenue generated from the additional 
one per cent sales and use taxes imposed on meals sold by an eating 
establishment, caterer or grocery store to be used for certain purposes.
