AN ACT CONCERNING THE COMPOSITION AND OPERATIONAL 
PROCEDURES OF THE JUDICIAL SELECTION COMMISSION. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 51-44a of the general statutes be amended to: (1) Revise 1 
the composition of the Judicial Selection Commission to include twelve 2 
members, eight who shall be attorneys and four who shall not be 3 
attorneys; not more than six of the members shall belong to the same 4 
political party and none of the members shall otherwise be an elected or 5 
appointed official of the state or hold state-wide office in a political 6 
party; and (2) provide that no candidate for the position of judge shall 7 
remain on a list of qualified candidates for more than ten years. 8 
Statement of Purpose:   
To revise statutory provisions concerning: (1) The composition of the 
Judicial Selection Commission; and (2) certain internal operational 
procedures concerning decisions issued by said commission.
