| 20 | 20 | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General | |
| 21 | 21 | Assembly convened: | |
| 22 | 22 | ||
| 23 | 23 | That chapter 801 of the general statutes be amended to provide that: 1 | |
| 24 | 24 | (1) a Probate Court judge (A) shall devote full-time to the judge's judicial 2 | |
| 25 | 25 | duties, and may not engage in the practice of law, nor be a partner, 3 | |
| 26 | 26 | member or associate of a law firm; and (B) shall not act as an arbitrator, 4 | |
| 27 | 27 | referee or compensated mediator nor engage in the conduct of any other 5 | |
| 28 | 28 | profession or business that interferes with the performance of judicial 6 | |
| 29 | 29 | duties; (2) the provisions of subdivision (1) of this section shall take 7 | |
| 30 | 30 | effect January 5, 2027, except that for each Probate Court judge elected 8 | |
| 31 | 31 | for a term that begins on or after January 5, 2027, and who continues to 9 | |
| 32 | 32 | serve without a break in service, the provisions of subdivision (1) of this 10 | |
| 33 | 33 | section shall take effect January 9, 2031. 11 | |

| 36 | 36 | eliminate potential conflicts of interest, enhance professionalism and | |
