1818 AN ACT ALLOWING FOR THE CREATION OF MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC
1919 COMPANIES BY REFERENDA AND ESTABLISHING THE
2020 CONNECTICUT PUBLIC TRANSMISSION AUTHORITY AND THE
2121 CONNECTICUT PUBLIC POWER CORPORATION.
2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That the general statutes be amended to (1) allow any political 1
2626 subdivision of the state, including a municipality or regional council of 2
2727 governments, to hold a referendum to establish or join a municipal 3
2828 electric company, (2) establish a quasi-public entity known as the 4
2929 "Connecticut Public Transmission Authority" to acquire existing electric 5
3030 transmission assets from private entities at fair market value and to 6
3131 own, operate and maintain such assets in the state, and (3) establish a 7
3232 nonprofit entity known as the "Connecticut Public Power Corporation" 8
3333 to generate class I renewable energy sources in the state. 9
3434 Statement of Purpose:
3535 To (1) allow any political subdivision of the state, including a
