AN ACT ASSISTING PARENTS CURRENTLY INCARCERATED FOR NONVIOLENT CRIMES IN FOREIGN JURISDICTIONS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to allow an individual 1 convicted of a nonviolent crime in a foreign jurisdiction, who is 2 incarcerated for such crime in that jurisdiction, and has children 3 residing in this state, to be transferred to a state correctional facility to 4 serve the remainder of their sentence as close to their children as 5 reasonably possible, depending on the safety and needs of such 6 children. 7 Statement of Purpose: To assist parents currently incarcerated for nonviolent crimes in foreign jurisdictions.
