AN ACT CONCERNING VACCINE AVAILABILITY AND AFFORDABILITY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) require reimbursement to 1 each local health department and health district for the full cost, 2 including, but not limited to, administrative costs, for all vaccines 3 administered by such department or district, (2) require the 4 Commissioner of Public Health to implement an annual public 5 education campaign to educate state residents about free and low-cost 6 vaccines available through the vaccines for children program, (3) 7 require the Commissioner of Public Health to develop training for, and 8 provide technical assistance to, each local health department and health 9 district relating to billing and insurance for vaccines, and (4) eliminate 10 penalties for local health departments and health districts that carry 11 excess vaccine stock. 12 Proposed Bill No. 6550 LCO No. 2531 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To promote vaccine availability and affordability by (1) supporting vaccine administration by local health departments and health districts, and (2) promoting public awareness of free and low-cost vaccines.
