AN ACT PROHIBITING A PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM FROM ACQUIRING, OWNING OR CONTROLLING A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER'S PRACTICE OR HEALTH CARE FACILITY AND REQUIRING THE DISCLOSURE OF A CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP OF SUCH A PRACTICE OR FACILITY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) prohibit a private equity 1 firm from acquiring ownership or control of a health care provider's 2 practice or a health care facility, (2) require the administrator of each 3 health care provider practice and health care facility to disclose the 4 ownership structure of such provider's practice or facility and disclose 5 any significant changes in such ownership structure to the Health 6 Systems Planning Unit, and (3) authorize the Attorney General to 7 enforce the provisions of subdivisions (1) and (2) of this section. 8 Statement of Purpose: To prevent the consolidation of health care services by nonmedical entities and safeguard patient access to quality health care.
