20 | 20 | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General | |
21 | 21 | Assembly convened: | |

23 | 23 | That chapter 104 of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 | |
24 | 24 | any fire department that hires a firefighter who received firefighter 2 | |
25 | 25 | certification not earlier than two years before the date when such fire 3 | |
26 | 26 | department hires such firefighter shall reimburse fifty per cent of the 4 | |
27 | 27 | total cost of such certification to any other fire department that 5 | |
28 | 28 | employed such firefighter during such two-year period and paid for 6 | |
29 | 29 | such certification. 7 | |

31 | 31 | To assist fire departments with firefighter retention and saving the costs | |
32 | 32 | associated with losing firefighters to other departments. |
