AN ACT CONCERNING THE REIMBURSEMENT OF FIREFIGHTER CERTIFICATION COSTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 104 of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 any fire department that hires a firefighter who received firefighter 2 certification not earlier than two years before the date when such fire 3 department hires such firefighter shall reimburse fifty per cent of the 4 total cost of such certification to any other fire department that 5 employed such firefighter during such two-year period and paid for 6 such certification. 7 Statement of Purpose: To assist fire departments with firefighter retention and saving the costs associated with losing firefighters to other departments.
