AN ACT CONCERNING THE PAYMENT OF FINANCIAL RESTITUTION BY A PERSON WHO CAUSES THE DEATH OF ANOTHER PERSON WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN INTOXICATING LIQUOR OR DRUG. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 952 of the general statutes be amended to permit a court 1 to order a person who, while operating a motor vehicle under the 2 influence of an intoxicating liquor or drug, or both, causes the death of 3 another person to pay financial restitution to the surviving spouse or 4 other relative of the deceased person who is supporting the children of 5 the deceased person until such children are eighteen years of age. 6 Statement of Purpose: To permit a court to order that impaired drivers who cause the death of another person pay restitution in the form of child support to the surviving spouse or other relative of the deceased victim until the children of such victim are eighteen years of age.
