REP. DAUPHINAIS, 44th Dist. REP. MASTROFRANCESCO, 80th Dist. AN ACT REQUIRING PHOTO IDENTIFICATION FOR VOTING PURPOSES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require (1) each elector, prior 1 to voting in person at the polling place, to present a current and valid 2 photo identification that clearly displays such elector's name and 3 residential address; (2) each elector voting by absentee ballot to include 4 in the outer return envelope a photocopy of such a current and valid 5 photo identification; (3) each public library to provide, free of charge, a 6 photocopy of any elector's current and valid photo identification for 7 purposes of voting by absentee ballot, the costs of which provision such 8 library may seek reimbursement from the State Treasurer; and (4) the 9 Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to waive the fee associated with 10 obtaining, for voting purposes, a motor vehicle operator's license or 11 identity card for any person without means to pay such fee. 12 Proposed Bill No. 329 LCO No. 322 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To require photo identification for voting in person or by absentee ballot and to afford electors means of obtaining, free of charge, such photo identification or a photocopy thereof for purposes of so voting.
