AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO INVESTIGATE AND INITIATE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS IN RESPONSE TO ALLEGED PRICE GOUGING BY THE INSURANCE, PHARMACEUTICAL, PHARMACY BENEFIT MANAGEMENT AND UTILITY SECTORS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 35 of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 the Office of the Attorney General may investigate, intervene in or bring 2 a civil or administrative action in the name of the state, seeking 3 injunctive or declaratory relief, damages and any other relief that may 4 be available under law, whenever any person in the insurance, 5 pharmaceutical, pharmacy benefit management or utility sector is or has 6 engaged in a practice or pattern of conduct that constitutes price 7 gouging. 8 Statement of Purpose: To ensure greater accountability and protect residents from unfair pricing practices by the insurance, pharmaceutical, pharmacy benefit management and utility sectors that compromise affordability and access to critical services.
