AN ACT ESTABLISHING AN OVERDOSE PREVENTION CENTER PILOT PROGRAM. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) establish an overdose 1 prevention center pilot program to (A) establish not less than four 2 overdose prevention centers in the state; and (B) collect and evaluate 3 data concerning overdose reduction, substance use disorder prevention 4 and substance use disorder treatment access, (2) establish a 5 multidisciplinary advisory committee to provide recommendations 6 concerning the overdose prevention center pilot program, (3) develop 7 and implement a public awareness and education campaign concerning 8 the benefits of overdose prevention centers, (4) require the Department 9 of Public Health to establish licensure for overdose prevention centers 10 in the state, and (5) require the Department of Mental Health and 11 Addiction Services to develop operational guidelines for overdose 12 prevention centers, including, but not limited to, standards for staffing, 13 safety and service provision. 14 Proposed Bill No. 492 LCO No. 816 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To promote the establishment of overdose prevention centers in the state.
