1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE MOTOR
1919 VEHICLE KNOWLEDGE TEST IN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGES, THE
2020 INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATION AND
2121 THE USE OF A TRANSLATOR DURING THE ON -THE-ROAD SKILLS

2323 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2424 Assembly convened:

2626 That (1) subdivision (3) of subsection (d) of section 14-36 of the 1
2727 general statutes be amended to require the written knowledge test for a 2
2828 motor vehicle operator's license to be administered in additional 3
2929 languages, including, but not limited to, Bengali, Haitian Creole, Hindi, 4
3030 Nepalese, Vietnamese and Urdu; (2) section 14-38a of the general 5
3131 statutes be amended to require the instruction manual for motor vehicle 6
3232 operation to be available in such additional languages; and (3) section 7
3333 14-36 of the general statutes be amended to permit non-English-8
3434 speaking applicants for the on-the-road skills test to use the services of 9
3535 a translator during such skills test. 10
3636 Statement of Purpose:
3737 To (1) require the written knowledge test for a motor vehicle operator's
3838 license to be administered in additional languages; (2) require the Proposed Bill No. 498
