AN ACT CREATING A STAND -YOUR-GROUND LAW. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 53a of the general statutes be amended to adopt a stand-1 your-ground policy to allow someone to use force in self-defense when 2 there is reasonable belief of a threat, without an obligation to retreat 3 first, but would require the person standing their ground to (1) have a 4 legal right to be at the location, and (2) not be engaged in an unlawful 5 activity. 6 Statement of Purpose: To allow stand-your-ground self-defense.
