20 | 20 | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General | |
21 | 21 | Assembly convened: | |

23 | 23 | That section 10-25b of the general statutes be amended to require the 1 | |
24 | 24 | Department of Education to (1) develop a model curriculum for 2 | |
25 | 25 | comprehensive family life education for students in grades 3 | |
26 | 26 | kindergarten to twelve, inclusive, as appropriate for the age of such 4 | |
27 | 27 | students designed to promote parental involvement, foster positive self-5 | |
28 | 28 | concepts and provide coping mechanisms, including, but not limited to, 6 | |
29 | 29 | the following topics: (A) Family living and community relationships, (B) 7 | |
30 | 30 | the benefits, challenges, responsibilities and value of marriage for men, 8 | |
31 | 31 | women, children and communities, and (C) the value of family 9 | |
32 | 32 | relationships, (2) establish requirements for training educators to teach 10 | |
33 | 33 | the family life education curriculum, and (3) review and update the 11 | |
34 | 34 | family life education curriculum every five years thereafter to reflect 12 | |
35 | 35 | contemporary community standards. 13 | |
