AN ACT CONCERNING A MODEL CURRICULUM FOR FAMILY LIFE 
EDUCATION. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 10-25b of the general statutes be amended to require the 1 
Department of Education to (1) develop a model curriculum for 2 
comprehensive family life education for students in grades 3 
kindergarten to twelve, inclusive, as appropriate for the age of such 4 
students designed to promote parental involvement, foster positive self-5 
concepts and provide coping mechanisms, including, but not limited to, 6 
the following topics: (A) Family living and community relationships, (B) 7 
the benefits, challenges, responsibilities and value of marriage for men, 8 
women, children and communities, and (C) the value of family 9 
relationships, (2) establish requirements for training educators to teach 10 
the family life education curriculum, and (3) review and update the 11 
family life education curriculum every five years thereafter to reflect 12 
contemporary community standards. 13 
Statement of Purpose:   
To require development of a model family life education curriculum.
