AN ACT REQUIRING SMOKE DETECTORS IN ALL HOMES IN WHICH 
A PERSON IS PROVIDING HEALTH CARE OR HOSPICE CARE 
THROUGH A HOME HEALTH CARE AGENCY, HOSPICE AGENCY OR 
HOME HEALTH AIDE AGENCY. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to require all homes in which a 1 
person is providing home health care or hospice care to a patient 2 
through a home health care agency, hospice agency or home health aide 3 
agency to have a working smoke detector and, if there is no working 4 
smoke detector in a home, to require the home health care agency, 5 
hospice agency or home health aide agency to negotiate with the 6 
homeowner to supply a working smoke detector. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To ensure a safe working environment for persons providing home 
health care or hospice care to patients in their homes.
