1818 AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO BE
1919 RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPILING A LIST OF READING

2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 That section 10-14t of the general statutes be amended to replace the 1
2525 Center for Literacy Research and Reading Success with the Department 2
2626 of Education regarding the responsibility of compiling a list of reading 3
2727 assessments that shall be used by local and regional boards of education 4
2828 for the school year commencing July 1, 2025, and each school year 5
2929 thereafter, to identify students in kindergarten to grade three, inclusive, 6
3030 who are below proficiency in reading, provided any such reading 7
3131 assessments include frequent screening and progress monitoring of 8
3232 students. 9
3333 Statement of Purpose:
