AN ACT CONCERNING RANKED -CHOICE VOTING. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That title 9 of the general statutes be amended to (1) provide for a 1 
method of casting and tabulating votes whereby voters rank candidates 2 
in order of preference, tabulation proceeds in sequential rounds in 3 
which last-place candidates are defeated and the candidate with the 4 
most votes in the final round is elected, (2) allow such a method to be 5 
used in presidential preference primaries, and (3) allow municipalities 6 
the option to use such a method for single-member offices. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To provide for the method of election known as ranked-choice voting 
and allow its use for presidential preference primaries and certain 
municipal elections.
