REP. RADER, 98th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING PATIENT-SPECIFIC EMERGENCY HEALTH CARE PROTOCOLS FOR PERSONS WITH RARE DISEASES OR SPECIAL HEALTH CARE NEEDS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 19a of the general statutes be amended to require 1 emergency health care providers, including, but not limited to, 2 emergency room physicians and emergency medical personnel, to 3 adhere to a patient-specific emergency health care protocol, developed 4 by a patient's physician, when providing health care to persons with 5 rare diseases or special health care needs during a medical emergency. 6 Statement of Purpose: To improve medical outcomes and safeguard the health and well-being of persons living with rare diseases or special health care needs by requiring emergency health care providers to follow patient-specific emergency protocols.
