AN ACT CONCERNING THE REGISTRATION AND MAINTENANCE OF
MUNICIPAL INTERNET WEB SITES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Notwithstanding the 1
provisions of any municipal charter, special act or home rule ordinance, 2
not later than July 1, 2027, each municipality shall (1) register a ".gov" 3
Internet top-level domain for such municipality with the Cybersecurity 4
and Infrastructure Security Agency within the United States 5
Department of Homeland Security, and (2) redirect any existing Internet 6
web site addresses maintained by such municipality to such domain or 7
discontinue the use of such addresses. On and after July 1, 2027, each 8
municipality shall maintain an Internet web site with a ".gov" Internet 9
top-level domain. For the purposes of this section, "municipality" has 10
the same meaning as provided in section 7-148 of the general statutes. 11
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:
