| 23 | 24 | | Section 1. Subsection (e) of section 14-279a of the general statutes is 1 |

| 24 | 25 | | repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from 2 |

| 26 | 27 | | (e) (1) A municipality or local or regional board of education that is 4 |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | not operating a live digital video school bus violation detection 5 |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | monitoring system pursuant to subsection (b) of this section prior to July 6 |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | 1, [2024] 2026, shall not (A) commence operation of such a system on or 7 |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | after July 1, [2024] 2026, or (B) enter into an agreement with a private 8 |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | vendor pursuant to subsection (b) of this section for the installation, 9 |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | operation and maintenance of such a system on or after July 1, [2024] 10 |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | 2026. 11 |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | (2) A municipality or local or regional board of education, or a private 12 |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | vendor under an agreement pursuant to subsection (b) of this section, 13 |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | that is operating a live digital video school bus violation detection 14 |
|---|
| 41 | 44 | | |
|---|
| 42 | 45 | | [2024] 2026, shall cease operation of such system not later than July 1, 16 |
|---|
| 43 | 46 | | [2026] 2028, except as provided in subdivision (3) of this subsection. 17 |

| 44 | 47 | | (3) A private vendor operating a live digital video school bus 18 |
|---|
| 45 | 48 | | violation detection monitoring system may continue operating such 19 |
|---|
| 46 | 49 | | system on or after July 1, [2026] 2028, provided (A) the agreement 20 |
|---|
| 47 | 50 | | regarding such operation was entered into pursuant to subsection (b) of 21 |
|---|
| 48 | 51 | | this section prior to July 1, [2024] 2026, (B) no option to renew or extend 22 |
|---|
| 49 | 52 | | such agreement is exercised on or after July 1, [2024] 2026, that would 23 |
|---|
| 50 | 53 | | extend such operation to include any period of time on or after July 1, 24 |
|---|
| 51 | 54 | | [2026] 2028, and (C) such operation ceases upon termination of such 25 |
|---|
| 52 | 55 | | agreement. 26 |

| 53 | 56 | | This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following |
