2121 To require the Department of Parks and Recreation to offer one week of in-person and online 20
2222 priority registration to residents of communities where summer programs are held before 21

2525 BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 24
2626 act may be cited as the “Department of Parks and Recreation Program Priority Registration Act 25
2727 of 2023”. 26
2828 Sec. 2. Priority registration. 27
2929 (a) All Department of Parks and Recreation community centers, recreation centers, and 28
3030 other locations that host programs shall offer in-person and online registration available to 29
3131 priority registrants one week prior to the public registration date. 30
3232 (b) A registrant shall be considered a priority registrant if the registrant resides within a 31
3333 1-mile radius of the community center, recreation center, or other host location. 32
3434 Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement. 33 2
3535 The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement in the committee report as the fiscal 34
3636 impact statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, 35
3737 approved October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a). 36
3838 Sec. 4. Effective date. 37
3939 This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the 38
4040 Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as 39
4141 provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 40
4242 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code § 1-206.02(c)(1)), and publication in the District of 41
4343 Columbia Register. 42
