13+To amend, on an emergency basis, the Safe Fields and Playgrounds Act of 2018 to require that 13

17+BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may 17
18+be cited as the “Lafayette Elementary School Grass Field Emergency Amendment Act of 2024 ”. 18
19+Sec. 2. Section 4 of the Safe Fields and Playgrounds Act of 2018, effective April 11 , 19
20+2019 (D.C. Law 22- 293; D.C. Official Code § 10 -171.03), is amended by adding a new 20
21+subsection (i) to read as follows: 21
22+ “(i) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, DGS shall install a natural grass field at 22
23+Lafayette Elementary School , located in Lot 12 in Square 2012.” . 23
24+Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement. 24
25+The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact 25
26+statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved 26
27+October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1- 301.47a). 27
28+Sec. 4. Effective date. 28
29+This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the 29
30+Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), and shall remain in effect for no longer than 30
31+90 days, as provided for emergency acts of the Council of the District of Columbia in section 31 2
