16-To amend, on a temporary basis, the Safe Fields and Playgrounds Act of 2018 to require that the
17-Department of General Services install a natural grass field at Lafayette Elementary

20-BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may
21-be cited as the “Lafayette Elementary School Grass Field Temporary Amendment Act of 2024”.
22-
23- Sec. 2. Section 4 of the Safe Fields and Playgrounds Act of 2018, effective April 11,
24-2019 (D.C. Law 22-293; D.C. Official Code § 10-171.03), is amended by adding a new
25-subsection (i) to read as follows:
26- “(i) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, DGS shall install a natural grass field at
27-Lafayette Elementary School, located in Lot 12 in Square 2012.”.

29- Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement.
30- The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement of the Budget Director as the fiscal impact
31-statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved
32-October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a).

34- Sec. 4. Effective date.
35-(a) This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by
36-the Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto) and a 30-day period of congressional
37-review as provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved
