A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION
25-283
IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
November 12, 2024
To recognize and acknowledge the athletic efforts and extraordinary resilience of Washington
Commanders running back Brian Robinson, Jr .
WHEREAS, Brian Robinson, Jr. was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1999;
WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson developed a love of the game of football at an early age;
WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson attended Hillcrest High School, where he rushed for 990 yards
and 18 touchdowns in his senior year;
WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson matriculated to the University of Alabama, where he was rated
a four-star recruit, and played on the team from 2017- 2021;
WHEREAS, while at the University of Alabama, Mr. Robinson was a two- time College
Football Playoff (CFP) national champion, made the All -Southeastern Conference (All-SEC) first
team in 2021, and was the 2021 Cotton Bowl Classic MVP, rushing for 2,704 yards and 29
touchdowns over the course of his college career;
WHEREAS, in 2022, Mr. Robinson was selected by the Washington Commanders with
the 98
th
overall pick in the National Football League ( NFL) Draft;
WHEREAS, during his rookie season with the Commanders, Mr. Robinson was the victim
of an armed robbery in Northeast Washington where he was shot multiple times. Thankfully, Mr.
Robinson did not suffer life-threatening damage and was able to begin his recovery shortly after
the incident;
WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson missed the first 4 games of his rookie campaign due to the
incident, but made his NFL debut in Week 5 of the 2022 season versus the Tennessee Titans;
WHEREAS, at the end of his rookie season, Mr. Robinson was voted by his Commanders
teammates as the 2022 recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, an honor bestowed on a player
who “exemplifies commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.”; and

WHEREAS, since beginning his career in Washington, Mr. Robinson has been a key
contributor to the Commanders offense and has emerged as a team leader .
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the “Brian Robinson, Jr. Ceremonial Recognition Resolution of 2024”.
Sec. 2. The Council recognizes and commends Brian Robinson, Jr. for the extraordinary
resilience he has shown in pursuing his career in the NFL, even in the face of a potential tragedy,
and wishes him continued success in his professional life.
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
