ENROLLED ORIGINAL 1 A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION 25-289 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA November 12, 2024 To recognize Angela Fowlkes for her exceptional service and leadership as Chief of Staff to Councilmember Robert C. White, Jr. and for her contributions to the District of Columbia. WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes served the At-Large Office with distinction for more than 5 years, holding various roles including Senior Legislative Assistant, and contributing to the Committee on Government Operations and Facilities; WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes served as Chief of Staff for 3 years, leading the office with empathy, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the betterment of the District; WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes’ leadership as Chief of Staff was defined by her ability to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment, ensuring that all staff and community members felt heard and valued; WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes encouraged open communication, allowed staff to provide meaningful feedback, and enhanc ed the team’s effectiveness; WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes’ attention to the well- being of her colleagues and her dedication to mentorship empowered the team to achieve their best, furthered the mission of the office, and will leave a lasting impact; WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes ’ work on legislative matters, including education, the environment, and the arts improved the lives of countless District residents; WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes showed her talent by rising to many significant challenges during her tenure as Chief of Staff and went above and beyond to ensure the office performed at its best at every point; and WHEREAS, Angela Fowlkes leaves behind a legacy of care, collaboration, and leadership that has greatly benefited both the office and the residents of the District. ENROLLED ORIGINAL 2 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution be cited as the “Angela Fowlkes Recognition Resolution of 2024”. Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes Angela Fowlkes for her exemplary service and leadership as Chief of Staff, with deep appreciation for her contributions and best wishes for her future endeavors. Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
