| 22 | | - | Sec. 2. (a) There exists an immediate need to designate the school in Lot 841 in Square |

| 23 | | - | 974 as Shirley Chisholm Elementary School. |

| 24 | | - | (b) Bill 25-539, the Shirley Chisholm Elementary School Redesignation Act of 2023, |

| 25 | | - | was adopted on final reading by the Council on January 9, 2024. |

| 26 | | - | (c) The underlying legislation renames John Tyler Elementary School as Shirly Chisholm |

| 27 | | - | Elementary School. |

| 28 | | - | (d) The school is ready to implement the new name as soon as legislation authorizing the |

| 29 | | - | change is approved and has requested this legislation proceed as quickly as possible. Moreover, |

| 30 | | - | it is best to establish the new name before the School Year 2024-2025 enrollment process begins. |
