1 February 25, 2025 Nyasha Howard, Secretary Council of the District of Columbia 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, D.C. 20004 Dear Secretary Howard: Today, I am introducing the “Gallery Court Designation Act of 2025”. Please find enclosed a signed copy of the legislation. This bill would officially designate the public alley system bounded by 3rd Street, N.E., K Street, N.E., 4th Street, N.E., and I Street, N.E., in Ward 6 as “Gallery Court”. There is a project currently underway to construct 4 townhomes that face the public alley system and are across the way from an art gallery. The developers have done extensive engagement with neighbors and the community and plan to bring townhomes that align with the neighborhood’s characteristics. Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6C voted on February 12, 2025 to support the naming of the alley as “Gallery Court”, noting that the name was selected by a consensus of nearby residents. Please feel free to reach out to me or my Legislative Director, Antonio Nunes, with any questions or for additional information. Sincerely, Councilmember Charles Allen, Ward 6 Chairperson, Committee on Transportation & the Environment 1 ______________________________1 Councilmember Charles Allen 2 3 4 5 A BILL 6 7 ________ 8 9 10 IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 11 12 _________________ 13 14 15 To designate the entire portion of the public alley system in Square 775, bounded by 3rd Street, 16 N.E., K Street, N.E., 4th Street, N.E., and I Street, N.E., as Gallery Court. 17 18 BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this 19 act may be cited as the “Gallery Court Designation Act of 2025”. 20 Sec. 2.
