23-Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the Sta te of Florida: 10

25- Section 1. Section 381.825, Florida Statutes, is created 12
26-to read: 13
27- 381.825 Education and public awareness relating to 14
28-Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia. — 15
29- (1) This section may be cited as the "Ramping up Education 16
30-of Alzheimer's and Dementia for You (READY) Act." 17
31- (2) The Department of Health shall, through existing, 18
32-relevant public health and community outreach programs, educate 19
33-health care providers licensed under chapters 458, 459, and 464 20
34-regarding all of the follo wing information: 21
35- (a) The importance of early detection and timely diagnosis 22
36-of Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia. 23
37- (b) Using a validated cognitive assessment tool. 24
38- (c) The value and effectiveness of the Medicare annual 25
21+forms of dementia; requiring the department to 8
22+encourage health care providers and facilities to 9
23+prominently display such information; requiring the 10
24+department to encourage health care providers to 11
25+discuss the risks of Alzheimer's disease and related 12
26+forms of dementia with certain patients; requiring the 13
27+department to post on its website certain reso urces 14
28+and a link to the Centers for Disease Control and 15
29+Prevention's website; authorizing the department to 16
30+fund certain outreach programs for specified purposes; 17
31+requiring the department to collaborate with other 18
32+state agencies and entities for specified purposes; 19
33+providing an effective date. 20

58- Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 33

70+ (3)(a) The Department of Health shall encourage h ealth 45
71+care providers and health care facilities, including, but not 46
72+limited to, physicians, nurses, hospitals, rural health 47
73+networks, and county health departments to prominently display 48
74+information relating to Alzheimer's disease and related forms of 49
75+dementia, including the information specified in subsection (2). 50

88+ (b) The department shall also encourage health care 51
89+providers to discuss the risks of Alzheimer's disease and 52
90+related forms of dementia with patients 60 years of age and 53
91+older. 54
92+ (4) The Department of Health shall post on its website 55
93+resources and a link to the federal Centers for Disease Control 56
94+and Prevention's website for information regarding Alzheimer's 57
95+disease and related forms of dementia. 58
96+ (5) The Department of Health may fund mobile and virtual 59
97+outreach programs, using available federal and state funds 60
98+appropriated for that purpose, which prioritize persons in 61
99+underserved communities and provide information promoting public 62
100+awareness of Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia, 63
101+including, but not limited to, brain health, risk reduction, 64
102+early detection, and early diagnosis. The mobile and virtual 65
103+outreach programs may also provide resources regarding 66
104+Alzheimer's disease and relate d forms of dementia to the public 67
105+and referrals to the Department of Elderly Affairs. 68
106+ (6) The Department of Health shall collaborate with other 69
107+state agencies, including the Department of Elderly Affairs; 70
108+associations or organizations, including the Alzh eimer's 71
109+Association; and public or private institutions to create a 72
110+systematic approach for educating health care providers and 73
111+promoting public awareness of Alzheimer's disease and related 74
112+forms of dementia. 75
