A bill to be entitled 1 
An act relating to the Family and Medical Leave 2 
Insurance Benefits Fund; creating s. 444.015, F.S.; 3 
creating the Family and Medical Leave Insurance 4 
Benefits Fund under the Department of Financial 5 
Services; providing the purpose of the trust fund; 6 
providing for future review and termination of the 7 
trust fund; providing a contingent effective date. 8

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of F lorida: 10 
 11 
 Section 1.  Section 444.015, Florida Statutes, is created 12 
to read: 13 
 444.015  Family and Medical Leave Insurance Benefits Fund. — 14 
 (1)  The Family and Medical Leave Insurance Benefits Fund 15 
is created under the Department of Financial Services. Mo neys 16 
credited to the trust fund shall be used for the purpose of 17 
administering the family and medical leave insurance benefits 18 
program. Funds credited to the trust fund shall consist of 19 
contributions collected pursuant to s. 444.012. Only the 20 
secretary or his or her designee may authorize expenditures from 21 
the fund. 22 
 (2)  In accordance with s. 19(f)(2), Art. III of the State 23 
Constitution, the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Benefits 24 
Fund, unless terminated sooner, shall be terminated on July 1, 25

2026. Before its scheduled termination, the trust fund shall be 26 
reviewed as provided in s. 215.3206(1) and (2). 27 
 Section 2.  This act shall take effect on the same date 28 
that HB 627 or similar legislation takes effect , if such 29 
legislation is adopted in the same legislative session or an 30 
extension thereof and becomes a law. 31
