21	21		licensure to include an applicant who has received an 8
22	22		associate degree under certain circumstances; 9
23	23		requiring such education to be from a college or 10
24	24		university accredited by an accrediting body 11
25	25		recognized by the United States Department of 12
26	26		Education; providing that specified experience may be 13
27	27		substituted for education requirements for licensure 14
28	28		as a land surveyor or mapper; providing that an 15
29	29		applicant who holds a valid license from another 16
30	30		state, jurisdiction, or territory, and has certain 17
31	31		experience in the practice of surveying and mapping 18
32	32		may take the licensure examination to practice as a 19
33	33		land surveyor or mapper in this state; providing that 20
34	34		completion of a specified apprenticeship program may 21
35	35		be substituted for education requirements for 22

52	52		Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 27

54	54		Section 1. Paragraphs (e) and (f) of subsection (1) of 29
55	55		section 472.0101, Florida Statutes are amended, and paragraph 30
56	56		(d) of that subsection is republi shed, to read: 31
57	57		472.0101 Foreign-trained professionals; special 32
58	58		examination and license provisions. — 33
59	59		(1) When not otherwise provided by law, the department 34
60	60		shall by rule provide procedures under which exiled 35
61	61		professionals may be examined under this chap ter. A person is 36
62	62		eligible for the examination if the exiled professional: 37
63	63		(d) Demonstrates to the department, through submission of 38
64	64		documentation verified by the applicant's respective 39
65	65		professional association in exile, that the applicant was 40
66	66		graduated with an appropriate professional or occupational 41
67	67		degree from a college or university. However, the department may 42
68	68		not require receipt of any documentation from the Republic of 43
69	69		Cuba as a condition of eligibility under this section; 44
70	70		(e) A person who has lawfully practiced the profession for 45
71	71		at least 3 years may substitute such practice of the profession 46
72	72		for the education requirement under paragraph (d) ; 47
73	73		(f) Before Prior to 1980, successfully completed an 48
74	74		approved course of study pursuant to chapters 74 -105 and 75-177, 49

91	91		(2) An applicant shall be entitled to take the licensure 54
92	92		examination to practice in this stat e as a surveyor and mapper 55
93	93		if the applicant is of good moral character and has satisfied 56
94	94		one of the following requirements: 57
95	95		(a) The applicant has received a bachelor's degree, its 58
96	96		equivalent, or higher in surveying and mapping or a similarly 59
97	97		titled program, including, but not limited to, geomatics, 60
98	98		geomatics engineering, and land surveying, from a college or 61
99	99		university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the 62
100	100		United States Department of Education board and has a specific 63
101	101		experience record of 4 or more years as a subordinate to a 64
102	102		professional surveyor and mapper in the active practice of 65
103	103		surveying and mapping, which experience is of a nature 66
104	104		indicating that the applicant was in responsible charge of the 67
105	105		accuracy and correctness of the surveying a nd mapping work 68
106	106		performed. Work experience acquired as a part of the education 69
107	107		requirement may not be construed as experience in responsible 70
108	108		charge. 71
109	109		(b) The applicant has received a bachelor's degree, its 72
110	110		equivalent, or higher in a course of study, other than in 73
111	111		surveying and mapping, at a an accredited college or university 74

213	213		the education requirement may not be construed as experience in 140
