2222 WHEREAS, the Downtown Development Autho rity of the City of 11
2323 Fort Lauderdale (DDA) was created by special act of the 12
2424 Legislature in 1965, and 13
2525 WHEREAS, the DDA has been the driving force in the growth 14
2626 and progress of Downtown Fort Lauderdale for the past five 15
2727 decades, and 16
2828 WHEREAS, the DDA has d edicated land and resources for such 17
2929 public amenities including the Broward Performing Arts Center, 18
3030 the Downtown Library, Museum of Science, and Huizenga Plaza 19
3131 Park, among many others, and 20
3232 WHEREAS, the DDA has been active in providing input and 21
3333 solutions for such important ongoing issues such as 22
3434 transportation, affordable housing, community safety, and parks 23
3535 and public space improvements, and 24

4646 WHEREAS, the DDA is an important vehicle for representation 25
4747 and participation of the commercial property owners in Downtown 26

50-Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 29

52- Section 1. Section 15 of section 3 of chapter 2005 -346, 31
53-Laws of Florida, is amended to read: 32
54- Section 15. On December 31, 2032 2030, this law shall 33
55-expire and all assets of the authority shall on or before that 34
56-date be transferred by the authority to the city. Any assets 35
57-remaining in the hands of the authority on December 31, 2032 36
58-2030, shall automatically devolve upon and become the propert y 37
59-of the city. In the event there shall be any indebtedness 38
60-outstanding against the authority, the city may continue to levy 39
61-whatever portion shall be necessary of the tax authorized by 40
62-this law to retire such indebtedness. 41
63- Section 2. Referendum.—Notwithstanding the requirement for 42
64-a board resolution in subsection (1) of section 18 of section 3 43
65-of chapter 2005-346, Laws of Florida, the board by resolution 44
66-shall call for a referendum of the authorized voters to be 45
67-conducted no later than 3 months after t he effective date of 46
68-this act. The referendum shall comply with the requirements of 47
69-section 18 of section 3 of chapter 2005 -346, Laws of Florida. 48

61+dissolution be transferred by the authority to the city. Any 40
62+assets remaining in the hands of the authority on the date of 41
63+dissolution December 31, 2030, shall automatically devo lve upon 42
64+and become the property of the city. In the event there shall be 43
65+any indebtedness outstanding against the authority, the city may 44
66+continue to levy whatever portion shall be necessary of the tax 45
67+authorized by this law to retire such indebtedness. 46
68+ Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 47
