1919 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

2121 Section 1. Section 2.2(A) of Article II of the Alachua 10
2222 County Home Rule Charter is amended to read: 11
2323 Sec. 2.2. - Legislative branch. 12
2424 A. The county commission. The governing body of the county 13
2525 shall be a board of county commissioners composed of five (5) 14
2626 members serving staggered terms of four (4) years. There shall 15
2727 be one (1) commissioner for each of the five (5) county 16
2828 commission districts established pursuant to general law and 17
2929 they shall be elected by the qualified electors of that district 18
3030 on a countywide basis by the electors of the county . Each 19
3131 candidate for the office of county commissioner shall reside 20
3232 within the district from which such candidate seeks election at 21
3333 the time of qualifying to run for that office, and during the 22
3434 term of office each commissioner shall reside in the district 23
3535 from which such commissioner ran for office, provided that any 24
3636 commissioner who is removed from a district by redistricting may 25

4848 Section 2. Referendum election. — 27
4949 (1) The referendum election called for by this act shall 28
5050 be held on November 8, 2022, the 2022 General Election . 29
5151 (2) The ballot title for the referendum question shall be 30

6363 (4) In the event this question is answered affirmatively 42

6969 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon its approval by 48
