16	16	WHEREAS, the Tallahassee campus of Florida State University 5
17	17	(FSU), founded in 1851, is the oldest continuous site of higher 6
18	18	education in Florida, and 7
19	19	WHEREAS, Florida State University is proud to be recognized 8
20	20	as a preeminent university by the State of Florida and as a 9
21	21	leader in education, research, student retention, and 10
22	22	graduation, and 11
23	23	WHEREAS, Florida State University is a nationally 12
24	24	recognized institution with many of its colleges and programs 13
25	25	ranked in the top 10 in the nation, and 14
26	26	WHEREAS, reaffirming its place in the top 20 for the third 15
27	27	consecutive year, Florida State University ranked number 19 16
28	28	among national public universities in the U.S. News and World 17
29	29	Report rankings in 2021, and 18
30	30	WHEREAS, in 2021, Florida State University was ranked 19
31	31	number five in best value among public universities and number 20
32	32	26 in Best Colleges for Veterans in the U.S. News and World 21

35	35	graduation rate of 74 percent, making it the highest in the 24 

53	53	undergraduate, doctoral and professional degrees in 306 programs 32

55	55	of 2,061 members, which has included National Academy of 34
56	56	Sciences members and 6 Nobel Laureates, and has created a 35
57	57	student-faculty ratio of 21-to-1, making 61 percent of Florida 36
