21	21	WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a private, 8
22	22	not-for-profit organization founded 109 years ago on January 13, 9
23	23	1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University in Washington, 10
24	24	D.C., and 11
25	25	WHEREAS, in March of 1913, the founders of Delta Sigma 12
26	26	Theta Sorority, Inc., performed their first public act by 13
27	27	participating in the Woman Suffrage Procession in Washington, 14
28	28	D.C., demanding rights for women, including the right to vote, a 15
29	29	historic endeavor that transformed the role of women in the 16
30	30	democratic process, and 17
31	31	WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a sisterhood 18
32	32	of predominantly Black college -educated women committed to 19
33	33	implementing the sorority's mission by providing assistance and 20
34	34	support through established programs in communities throughout 21
35	35	the world in the areas of economic development, educational 22
36	36	development, physical and mental health, political awareness and 23
37	37	involvement, and international awareness and involvement, and 24

50	50	WHEREAS, with more than 250,000 women initiated and more 25
51	51	than 900 chapters worldwide, 52 of which are located in Florida 26
52	52	and the Bahamas, members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., 27
53	53	are pillars of the community and agents of change who serve in 28
54	54	many capacities, including as corporate and civic leaders, 29
55	55	productive public officials, acclaimed academicians, and 30
56	56	activists in their own right, and 31
57	57	WHEREAS, for the past 28 years, the Florida chapters of 32
58	58	Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., have conducted "Delta Days at 33
59	59	the Capitol," during which members have the opportunity to 34
60	60	effect social change and public policy, advocate for social 35
61	61	justice, enhance their knowledge of the state's legislative 36
62	62	process, and influence the enactment of legislation of 37
63	63	particular interest to African Ame ricans and women, and 38
64	64	WHEREAS, under the leadership of Southern Regional Director 39
65	65	Deidra K. Diaz and Southern Regional Representative Kyrsten 40
66	66	Sheffield, members of the 52 chapters of Delta Sigma Theta 41
67	67	Sorority, Inc., now serving Florida and the Bahamas wi ll convene 42
68	68	virtually on February 20, 2022, to participate in the 28th 43
69	69	annual "Delta Days at the Capitol," and 44
70	70	WHEREAS, Representatives Fentrice Driskell, Michele K. 45
71	71	Rayner, Felicia Simone Robinson, and Patricia H. Williams and 46
72	72	Senator Audrey Gibson are es teemed members of Delta Sigma Theta 47
