2222 not-for-profit organization founded 109 years ago on January 13, 9
2323 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University in Washington, 10

2525 WHEREAS, in March of 1913, the founders of Delta Sigma 12
2626 Theta Sorority, Inc., performed their first public act by 13
2727 participating in the Woman Suffrage Procession in Washington, 14
2828 D.C., demanding rights for women, including the right to vote, a 15
2929 historic endeavor that transformed the role of women in the 16

3131 WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a sisterhood 18
3232 of predominantly Black college -educated women committed to 19
3333 implementing the sorority's mission by providing assistance and 20
3434 support through established programs in communities throughout 21

3636 development, physical and mental health, political awareness and 23
