ENROLLED 2022 Legislature CS for SB 806 2022806er 1 2 An act relating to Alzheimers disease and related 3 forms of dementia education and public awareness; 4 creating s. 381.825, F.S.; providing a short title; 5 requiring the Department of Health to educate certain 6 health care practitioners regarding specified 7 information related to Alzheimers disease and related 8 forms of dementia; providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1.Section 381.825, Florida Statutes, is created to 13 read: 14 381.825Education and public awareness relating to 15 Alzheimers disease and related forms of dementia. 16 (1)This section may be cited as the Ramping up Education 17 of Alzheimers Disease and Dementia for You (READY) Act. 18 (2)The Department of Health shall, through existing, 19 relevant public health and community outreach programs, educate 20 health care practitioners licensed under chapters 458, 459, and 21 464 on all of the following: 22 (a)The importance of early detection and timely diagnosis 23 of Alzheimers disease and related forms of dementia. 24 (b)Using a validated cognitive assessment tool. 25 (c)The value and effectiveness of the Medicare annual 26 wellness visit in detecting Alzheimers disease and related 27 forms of dementia. 28 (d)Using Medicare advance care planning billing codes for 29 persons with Alzheimers disease and related forms of dementia. 30 (e)Reducing the risk of cognitive decline, particularly 31 among persons in diverse communities who are at greater risk of 32 developing Alzheimers disease and related forms of dementia. 33 Section 2.This act shall take effect July 1, 2022.
