ss. 1002.55, 1002.61, 1002.63, and 1002.71, F.S.; 4
revising the instructional hours required in the 5
Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program to provide 6
for an 8-hour program day in the summer and school -7
year programs; providing an effective date. 8

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Flo rida: 10

Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 1002.55, Florida 12
Statutes, is amended to read: 13
1002.55 School-year prekindergarten program delivered by 14
private prekindergarten providers. — 15
(2) Each school-year prekindergarten program delivered by 16
a private prekindergarten provider must comprise at least 1,440 17
540 instructional hours. 18
Section 2. Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section 19
1002.61, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 20
1002.61 Summer prekindergarten program delivered by public 21
schools and private prekindergarten providers. — 22
(2) Each summer prekindergarten program delivered by a 23
public school or private prekindergarten provider must: 24
(a) Comprise at least 480 300 instructional hours; 25

Section 3. Subsection (2) of section 1002.63, Florida 26
Statutes, is amended to read: 27
1002.63 School-year prekindergarten program delivered by 28
public schools.— 29
(2) Each school-year prekindergarten program delivered by 30
a public school must comprise at least 1,440 540 instructional 31
hours. 32
Section 4. Subsection (2) of section 1002.71, Florida 33
Statutes, is amended to read: 34
1002.71 Funding; financial and attendance reporting. — 35
(2) A full-time equivalent student in the Voluntary 36
Prekindergarten Education Program shall be calculated as 37
follows: 38
(a) For a student in a school -year prekindergarten program 39
delivered by a private prekindergarten provider: 1,440 540 40
instructional hours. 41
(b) For a student in a summer prekindergarten program 42
delivered by a public school or private prekindergarten 43
provider: 480 300 instructional hours. 44
(c) For a student in a school -year prekindergarten program 45
delivered by a public school: 1,440 540 instructional hours. 46

Except as provided in subsection (4), a student may not be 48
reported for funding purposes as more t han one full-time 49
equivalent student. 50
