3232 Section 1. Section 1011.8031, Florida Statutes, is created 19

3636 (1) Subject to appropriations provided in the General 23
3737 Appropriations Act, the Apprenticeship and Preapprenticeship 24
3838 Direct Funding Grant Program is created to provide funding 25

5151 directly to apprenticeship or preapprenticeship programs, as 26
5252 those terms are defined in s. 446.021, rather than funding such 27
5353 programs through a local educational agency. The Department of 28
5454 Education shall administer the grant program. 29
5555 (2) An apprenticeship or a preapprenticeship program shall 30
5656 submit an application in a format prescribed by t he department 31
5757 to receive funding under this section. An apprenticeship or a 32
5858 preapprenticeship program is ineligible for a grant under this 33
5959 section if such program uses any school district or Florida 34
6060 College System institution resources for the administrati on of 35
6161 the program. The department shall give priority to 36
6262 apprenticeship or preapprenticeship programs with demonstrated 37
6363 regional demand. 38
6464 (3) The State Board of Education may adopt rules to 39
6565 administer this section. 40
6666 Section 2. This act shall take effec t July 1, 2023. 41
