Section 1011.8031, Florida Statutes, is created 19 to read: 20 1011.8031 Apprenticeship and Preapprenticeship Direct 21 Funding Grant Program. — 22 (1) Subject to appropriations provided in the General 23 Appropriations Act, the Apprenticeship and Preapprenticeship 24 Direct Funding Grant Program is created to provide funding 25 HB 461 2023 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions. hb0461-00 Page 2 of 2 F L O R I D A H O U S E O F R E P R E S E N T A T I V E S directly to apprenticeship or preapprenticeship programs, as 26 those terms are defined in s. 446.021, rather than funding such 27 programs through a local educational agency. The Department of 28 Education shall administer the grant program. 29 (2) An apprenticeship or a preapprenticeship program shall 30 submit an application in a format prescribed by t he department 31 to receive funding under this section. An apprenticeship or a 32 preapprenticeship program is ineligible for a grant under this 33 section if such program uses any school district or Florida 34 College System institution resources for the administrati on of 35 the program. The department shall give priority to 36 apprenticeship or preapprenticeship programs with demonstrated 37 regional demand. 38 (3) The State Board of Education may adopt rules to 39 administer this section. 40 Section 2. This act shall take effec t July 1, 2023. 41
